Dead Space wins at DICE

Dead Space (the last game I worked on), took home Action Game of the Year (beating out Call of Duty: World at War, Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, & Grand Theft Auto IV ) and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design (beating out Fable II, Little Big Planet, Mirror’s Edge,  & Prince of Persia) at the 12th annual  Interactive Achievement Awards through DICE.

Represent!

You can watch a recording of it over on video.ign.com.

  • You’ll probably have to install their custom video player (pretty easy).
  • Then on the right side of the screen where it says “Video Playlist”, under ‘Dice 2009 > Recorded awards show’, click on ’12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards’.

Highlights:

  • Dead Space joke in monologue at :23 min
  • Art Direction nomination at :34 min
  • Sound nomination and win at 1:20
  • Action Game Of The Year win at 1:34

Be warned, Jay Mohr says bad words…. 😛

The Day Of Plugins…

Now that I’ve got the base layout for the blog set, I thought I’d focus a but on WordPress plugins.  Installed today include:

So, presuming anyone views this blog, it should make for a slightly better experience, for all parties involved :)

‘Careers in Animation’ via ASIAF

I’ve been asked to speak at this years ‘Careers in Animation‘ via the local chapter of ASIAF (ASsociation Internationale du Film d’ Animation).

It’ll be a panel-discussion held at the Fine Arts Building’s Coppola Theater, at SF State, 11:am, Saturday March 21st.   Appears to be free to memebers.

New Processing Sketch Added: PerlinParticle03

See the goodness for it on its page.

I also went through all the other sketch pages I’d made, and added imagery.  So take a gander.

How to subtract a list from a list inPython?

It dawned on me today:  I’ll add lists on a regular basis (listC = listA + listB), but I don’t think I’ve ever ‘subtracted’ listA form listB.  A quick search didn’t come up with much (but I know it’s out there).  I came up with this method using list comprehensions:

listA = ["a","b"]
listB = ["b", "c"]
listC = [item for item in listB if item not in listA]
print listC
# ['c']

But there’s got to be an easier method?  Maybe using sets?

Posted on my Python Wiki too.
